We have a strong background in community arts, are supported by Watford Borough Council and work closely with the rest of the artistic community. We also have experience in using art as therapy and promoting the healing potential of the arts in a variety of settings including the NHS, homeless and mental health charities and drug projects.
In 2002 Nysa Artists came together to secure the bid for Cha Cha Cha - Tea Pavilion, Watford and on the basis of previous community focused ventures were successful. Nysa successfully established Cha Cha Cha as a thriving community arts cafe although no longer has any involvement in the running of the Cafe.
We work to create workshops and environmental decor for a variety of community arts ventures. Past projects have included Hartbeeps Music sessions, Watford Palace Theatre, Rainbow Festival Watford Recycing Arts Project (WRAP), Watford Area Arts Forum and Inspiral Arts. We endeavor to use recycled materials wherever possible spreading the WRAP message to the younger generations.
We are currently seeking funding to secure our current Project 'The Arts - Watford' which will raise the profile of the arts in Watford and engage the wider Community in a number of artistic ventures. The main focus of the project will be visual art, working with a number of experienced artists we will target hard to reach groups such as Shroddells Unit and the New Hope Trust as well as interested individuals with a passion for increasing their artistic expertise. We will be recruiting artists from a number of backgrounds focussing on both cultural diversity and varied artistic skills. After a series of educational workshops including painting, sculpture, graffiti, costume making and 3D art, we hope that participants would gain the confidence and skills in their own arts practise to pursue further arts opportunities to a professional level.
The workshops will culminate in a number of professionally and well publicised exhibitions and events to involve all members of society promoting partnership working and social inclusion, instilling confidence in their own achievements.
We have secured part funding from Watford Borough Council, to carry out the first stage of this project with Watford's New Hope Trust which will be staring in April 2008. We are still looking for additional partners, funders and venues.
This summer we are planning an 'artsfest' in Cassiobury Park, where we will be working with other community groups to deliver a fun packed family day out. There will be workshops for children and adults, music by local musicians, an art exhibtion and recycled arts. We will confirm dates when we have finalised the details.
